God tells us what we need to hear about ourselves, that will guide us in ways of righteousness, to improve our attitude toward himself and man. We become aware of wrongful behavior, and is given the opportunity to correct our mistakes if we listen to his voice speaking to our conscious.
True friends will try to help us to see our mistakes and work with us to correct them.
Friends in general, tell us things they believe we want to hear about ourselves; and offer advice based on what we want to be told, to feel good about ourselves, even when our behavior is self -righteous and unkind toward others. The truth is ignored; and such behavior is allowed to continue that results in uncontrolled wrongful behavior.
Because such people, live in a world of darkness, only harm can come to themselves and to others.
Self- destruction occurs when we follow the advice of those who encourage us to ignore the truth about ourselves, and refuse to make efforts to correct our mistakes. The bible informs us to pray without ceasing.
Hear my prayer O LORD, give ear to to my supplications; in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust; cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
